FOR OUR STUDENTS

As we move into the busy holiday season, we feel overwhelmed yet excited. Many also find the holidays a time of stress and sadness

Mindful Moments to Ponder:

  • Take a moment to look around your classroom at all your students.  Note the ones who you know may need a little extra of you this time of year. Be a listening ear. This article gives some tips for supporting our kids.

  • Remember to set up conditions for positive experiences. If we are taking our students to events or concerts we can allow extra snacks beforehand, or offer noise cancelling head-phones to students that need them. This article is about preventing stress and anxiety in children during the holidays.
  • Give our students an opportunity to serve others. The act of giving brings joy in return. There are many worthy charities, perhaps co-creating projects with your students that they are interested in being a part of. Here are some ideas.
  • Make a commitment to quiet mindful moments. Check out these resources that mirror our Trina Markusson Settle your Sparkles with Snow Globes!
  • Mindful breathing- use the star graphic to encourage breathing into the Christmas spirit.
  • Create a gratitude tree and students can decorate it with things they are thankful for. This link is free Christmas lights to write on.
